Good morning San Diego! I am Katherine Wager, a female graduate of Cal State San Marcos with a degree in Communication. I just finished school last semester and was so happy to take my last final and now I am back in school for these pre-requisites. I am originally from Littleton, Colorado and lived there for my first eighteen years of life. I attended public schools in Jefferson County, not far from Denver.
Technology is my friend and enemy. I have never embraced it with open arms, but do try to “stay with the times”. I have never used a Mac until this course; I really don’t know anyone who has one. I purchased a laptop last year and it was the best investment I have ever made! I depend on technology quite a bit. I watch television in the morning for news and at night for Reality Shows. I listen to a c.d. player and my Ipod, depending on where I am. I use a computer everyday, mostly for school and work.
The Mission Statement for the College of Ed really impressed me. I had never seen it until I actually started class, so it was not a reason for my enrollment. However, what I really find interesting and powerful was the “life-long learning” part. I think that if someone has a goal to be a life-long learner, they will want to put more into what they’re learning because it will come up later in life. Sometimes we think in “just the moment”, but if you see education as a life-long experience, you are looking towards the future.
